Iris Computers Ltd, the largest distributor of Lenovo’s commercial computer business has bagged Rs.25 Crore business order from the Education Department of Government of Goa. Under the Cyberage Scheme run by Goa Government, the education department distributed 15,900 laptops to the Higher Secondary School Students. The scheme was introduced by the Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar in 2002.
On this achievement, Sanjiv Krishen, Chairman, Iris Computer shares, “We were able convince all the partners who had won this prestigious order from the Goa Government to procure the Notebooks from Iris and we could get the entire 15,900 laptops package for Lenovo. Our extra effort succeeded and we obtained the Rs.25 crore deal.”
Nilesh Amonkar, MD, ACES, one of the leading IT Partners in Goa says, “We decided to place our orders to Iris because we find them responsive and straight forward in their dealings with us. We treat them as an alliance partner of ours rather than a distributor. In a short period of 3 years, they have won our confidence and all the other partners associated with the Cyberage Project.
They are always there in our hour of need and that’s what differentiates them from the others.”
Commenting on the development, Rahul Agarwal, Executive Director, Commercial Business, Lenovo India, informs, “We see strong growth in Education and expect it to grow in size and scale, over the next few quarters. With many State Governments adopting the Student PC distribution scheme and with Lenovo’s inherent stronghold in the segment we believe that we have a winning combination with Iris. From the Education business perspective, Iris is the largest distributor for Lenovo. We have been associated with Iris Computers for many years now. They have actively contributed in closing business and we value our relationship. We look forward to more joint successes.”
Iris Computers being a T1 Partner of Lenovo shall be executing the entire deal on behalf of Lenovo. Digitization in Education provides a very strong platform for growing PC penetration in India as one-fifth of the world’s youth population is in India who are at various levels of learning out of which there are 33,000 plus higher educational institutions in India which is a huge potential.
