Network security is our core competency: Versatile Infosecurity

In 2007, Sudhir Sharma, set up Versatile Infosecurity Sudhir-sharmaoffering IT security and content security to the market with an initial capital of INR 6 lakhs.  He started working with vendors like Watchguard and Trend Micro for security s
olution products, as a consultant, catering to only a single technology.

In time, this decision to stick to a single technology was not helping in increasing revenues, he recalls, so over time he added other technologies to his portfolio.
In the last 7 years, his experience in the security industry has helped him ride the business towards growth. In conversation with Bhawna Satsangi, Sudhir sharma shares his experiences, ups and downs.

  1. What is the present focus of Versatile Infosecurity? What are the solutions on offer?

IT security, network security, antivirus, firewall and content security products are the present focus for the company. Being a networking security company we see network security visibility to a great extent today. We are also giving solutions for zen optimization and have added products for network monitoring. We cover the entire  network portfolio.

  1. Which are the potential verticals for your solutions?

Presently mobile device management security, encryption information, rights management are the three modules we are looking forward. We see potential in IT/ITES, BFSI, media, and enterprise verticals. We have been able to retain majority of clients from these sectors. Since we are not good in government sector we plan to focus more on that with our security solutions and will expand by adding backup and recovery solutions.

In terms of revenue, we generate 25% of our revenue from media and rest from corporate, manufacturing and export houses.

  1. What are your core competencies? How do they help growth?

Network security and management are our strength.  Our  growth is coming from our offerings of solutions that offer added value by adding more products and technology to our existing portfolio. Network availability, data leakage, zen optimization, information right management are the areas of growth for us.

  1. What are your expansion plans?

We are looking forward to build our expertise in mobile device management and are looking for vendors in that segment. We will also be signing up new vendors like Sopho for mobile device management, Seclore and Pawaa Software for information rights management, Info watch for DLP components.

Geographically we will be expanding our reach to Kanpur, Lucknow, Chandigarh at present.

  1. What is your go to market strategy?

When you give services for single technology then you have to the best in that. Our core strength is support services and repeat customers. Our retention rate is 95% and are adding additional 35% customers year on year.

  1. What are the opportunities you see for the business?

Things are moving in a positive direction. Public and private sectors are welcoming us and there is ample business in this sector. We still need to make our mark in government sector as we see it as a potential sector for our business.
