Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies like virtual personal assistants as well as chatbots are increasingly making their way into the workplace. According to predictions by Gartner, Inc. these technology by 2024 will replace almost 69% of the manager’s workload.
Helen Poitevin, research vice president at Gartner reportedly stated that the role of manager is expected to witness a complete an overhaul in the next four years. While now managers spend extra time in updating information, filling forms and approving workflows, by using AI these tasks will get automated and hey will be able to spend as less time as possible in managing transactions and will be able to invest more time on performance management, learning as well as goal setting.
Artificial Intelligence and other emerging technology will undoubtedly bring a change in the role of a manager and will enable employees to extend their degree of influence and responsibility without taking on tasks around management. Application leaders working on innovation and AI are at present accountable for improving worker experience, building organizational competency and developing worker skills in responsible use of AI.
Poitevin reportedly said that as this functionality gradually becomes available across more enterprise application, application leaders will also have to support a gradual transition to increased automation of management tasks.
AI to Foster Workplace Diversity
About 75% of heads of recruiting reported that shortages in talent will have a major effect on their companies. For several years now enterprises have been experiencing critical shortages in terms of talent. The companies should also understand the need to accept people with disabilities which an untapped pool of critically skilled talent. AI and other emerging technologies today are making work easier and more accessible for employees with disabilities.
According to estimation made by Gartner, companies who are actively employing people with disabilities have retention rates higher at 89%, increased productivity of an employee at 72% and increased profitability at 29%.
Further Gartner states that the number of people with disabilities employed will triple by 2023 due to emerging technologies like AI which reduces the barrier to access.
By 2022, organizations that do not employ people with disabilities will fall behind their competitors.
Certain organizations are actively using AI to make work even more accessible for people with special needs, Ms Poitevin reportedly stated. Further he said that restaurants leverage AI robotics technology which enables paralyzed employees to remotely control their waiters. Organizations are more open to employee a diverse workforce with technologies like virtual reality and braille-readers.

At the Gartner Application Architecture, Development and Integration Summit, the application architecture, development and integration strategies will further be discussed.
