Broadband India Forum (BIF), a distinguished policy forum and think-tank, celebrates the pivotal cabinet approval that aims to extend broadband connectivity to every village across the nation. The greenlighting of the BharatNet project, endowed with a substantial allocation of Rs 1.39 lakh crore, constitutes a momentous stride towards realizing the aspirations of Digital India and fostering inclusivity. This landmark initiative holds the promise of igniting socio-economic advancement and national progress.
The government’s undertaking presents a singular opportunity to deliver cost-effective and dependable connectivity to every resident in rural regions, effectively bridging the digital divide and propelling Digital Transformation. Coupled with the flagship PM-WANI Public Wi-Fi hotspots program and leveraging advanced Wi-Fi technologies such as Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7, villagers could potentially access high-speed and reasonably priced broadband services on par with their urban counterparts, aligning with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, and Sabka Prayaas.’ The far-reaching consequences of this government initiative will open doors to local self-employment prospects and entrepreneurial ventures at the grassroots level.
