Dynatrace Expands Cloud-Native Security Capabilities Through Acquisition of Runecast

Dynatrace is set to acquire Runecast in a strategic move to bolster cloud-native security measures. The agreement solidifies Dynatrace’s commitment to enhancing its platform through the incorporation of Runecast’s AI-driven security and compliance solutions. This integration is poised to broaden the scope of contextual security defenses and analytics, particularly emphasizing Runecast’s security posture management capabilities.

The collaboration enables customers to proactively address threats arising from misconfigurations and compliance breaches across hybrid and multi-cloud environments. Leveraging AI-driven, real-time vulnerability assessments, it equips users to conduct comprehensive threat detection, incident response, and gain insights into security vulnerabilities, application impacts, risk assessments, and potential attack vectors.

As the business landscape undergoes transformation with the adoption of cloud-native technologies, security complexities have surged. Enterprises grapple with the challenge of seamlessly integrating existing security analytics tools and mitigating security gaps in applications.

A cohesive and contextually rich strategy is deemed essential for ensuring observability, security, and compliance throughout the software delivery process. With the integration of Runecast, Dynatrace aims to fortify its platform’s cloud-native application security defenses, aiding customers in achieving these objectives efficiently.

Bernd Greifeneder, CTO at Dynatrace, emphasized the significance of security posture management in technology investments, highlighting Dynatrace’s differentiation as the sole platform leveraging contextual observability and security analytics for cloud-native applications.

Runecast’s technology is anticipated to elevate Dynatrace’s runtime vulnerability analytics and protection, contributing to customers maintaining constant readiness for cloud audits. The completion of the acquisition is subject to standard closing conditions and is expected to conclude in Dynatrace’s fourth quarter by March 31, 2024, with minimal expected impact on its financial outcomes.
