NHPC Limited, India’s leading hydropower developer, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Norwegian company Ocean Sun to collaborate on floating solar technology projects. The MoU aims to deploy Ocean Sun’s photovoltaic panels, which are mounted on hydro-elastic membranes, at various locations identified by NHPC, thereby contributing to India’s renewable energy capacity. This agreement underscores NHPC’s commitment to sustainable development and diversification of its renewable energy portfolio, which now includes solar, wind, and green hydrogen projects in addition to hydropower. The MoU was signed on April 29 in a hybrid ceremony attended by NHPC’s Executive Director (Renewable Energy and Green Hydrogen) V.R. Shrivastava and Ocean Sun’s CEO Kristian Tørvold.
