Indian CISOs to Focus on Endpoint and Cloud Security in 2024 and Beyond
Gartner, Inc. forecasts that end-user spending on information security in India will reach $3.4 billion by 2025, representing a 17.1% increase from the projected $2.9 billion in 2024.
Shailendra Upadhyay, Senior Principal at Gartner, noted that the CrowdStrike outage revealed significant internal vulnerabilities, underscoring the need for organizations to bolster their IT environments by prioritizing endpoint and cloud security investments. This incident has driven many chief information security officers (CISOs) to reassess and enhance their organization’s prevention, response, and support strategies, ensuring that key personnel are adequately skilled.

Among the security services market—which includes managed security services, consulting, and professional services—spending on managed security services is expected to grow by 34.3%, surpassing growth in consulting (10.9%) and professional services (17.9%). Managed Detection and Response (MDR) is projected to experience the highest growth within this segment at 42.3%, driven by the cybersecurity talent shortage that compels organizations to outsource expertise for comprehensive and cost-effective risk management.
The increasing investment in public cloud services, which Gartner anticipates will grow by 34% in India by 2025, along with the rise of AI and GenAI, will further drive expenditures in security software.
Additional insights on enterprise security challenges and evaluation of security programs will be discussed at the Gartner IT Symposium/Xpo 2024, a major conference for CIOs and IT leaders. The event will cover emerging technologies, trends, and strategies shaping the future of IT and business, including AI, cybersecurity, data analytics, and more.
